In this session, we will focus on a concept that appears throughout the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science: waves. Participants will investigate how information is transmitted via analog and digital waves, as well as develop a model that emulates how waves transmit information. Disciplinary Core Ideas about waves can be found in the standards for first, fourth, and eighth grades, as well as in high school physical science, Earth and space science, and physics. This session will focus on the 8th grade standard MS-PS4-3, "Waves and Their Applications in Technologies for Information Transfer." However, the science practices, activities, and concepts in this session are applicable to multiple grade levels.
