Embracing Authentic Teaching and LEARNing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Authentic Teaching and LEARNing will introduce participants to the K20 Center's Lesson and Engaging Activities Repository Network (learn.k20center.ou.edu). During this session, participants will explore components of authentic teaching and learning in the context of English language arts, math, science, and social studies lessons. In addition, the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) of lesson design will allow participants to consider how students might construct their own knowledge as they engage in disciplined inquiry that has value beyond school. Participants will interact with published lessons, adapt and modify lessons for their particular needs, and make an action plan to implement authentic lessons in their classrooms and schools. In addition, instructional strategies focused on student-centered learning will be discussed and practiced throughout this interactive, collaborative session. Participants will take away resources to engage and invigorate their students, colleagues, and school sites as a whole.
