An #OklaEd Collaboration: Hour of Code

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

With technology changing every industry on the planet, computing knowledge has become part of a well-rounded skillset. But only one in every four schools teaches computer science! Good news is, we're on our way to change this. If you heard about the Hour of Code last year, you might know it made history. 100 million students have now discovered how accessible and fun computer science can be by doing just one 'Hour of Code.'
The 'Hour of Code' is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. Learn more at http://HourofCode.com, try an hour yourself, or host an 'Hour of Code' event to introduce others to the world of computing!
During the week of December 5-11, 2016, schools across Oklahoma will unite to participate in the 'Hour of Code'. Tammy G. Parks, President of the Oklahoma Technology Association is organizing an #OklaEd collaboration to partner classrooms that have participated in 'Hour of Code' with classrooms that are new to this event.
Participants in this workshop will be introduced to 'Hour of Code' activities, provided with resources to participate in 'Hour of Code', and partnered with another Oklahoma classroom to connect and collaborate with during the event.
The 'Hour of Code' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week [csedweek.org] and code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
